CBUU Uruguay - Encuentro Nacional

Ayer regresamos del encuentro nacional de estudiantes de Uruguay. Nos reunimos en "El Retoño", cerca del aeropuerto de Montevideo. Un centro de encuentros precioso perteneciente a Juventud para Cristo. Dios nos regalo un tiempo casi primaveral (exceptuando la noche) y fue una verdadera delicia.

Sin duda este ha sido un encuentro historico en la vida del Movimiento Estudiantil Uruguayo. Este es el primer encuentro de estas caracteristicas despues de un largo silencio de mas de 10 anyos. Parece que estamos en una nueva y lindisima etapa. Dios no se ha olvidado y Dios honra la labor de los pioneros de anyos atras. Fue un gozo contar con la participacion de Freddy y Laura pioneros del movimiento y que siguen hoy colaborando con el ministerio.

Fueron 15 estudiantes y algunos profesionales. Tambien contamos con la presencia de un estudiante y una asesora Argentinos (ellos tambien estuvieron en el encuentro de ABUA la semana pasada). Estos son los nuevos estudiantes que Dios esta levantando para el testimonio en la Universidad Uruguaya y para su gloria y honra. De los 15 la mayoria atendian a un evento de CBUU por la primera vez. La mayoria son tambien de primer anyo de carrera incluso algunos todavia terminando el Bachillerato (Liceo aqui).

Me quede impresionada por la madurez espiritual y a la vez la humildad de estos jovenes estudiantes; pasion y compromiso con el Senyor y su obra. Como dijo alguien durante el encuentro: Estos chicos son FRESCOS. Creo que es una excelente manera de describirles.

Fue un verdadero privilegio compartir con ellos y verles absober todo lo que estaban escuchando como verdaderas esponjas.

Al final del encuentro todos ellos tambien se comprometieron a ser discipulos de Jesus y predicar en la Universidad y alli donde el Senyor les lleve. Doy tantas gracias a Dios por su obra y por este maravilloso grupo que Dios esta levantando.

Esta semana se reunen unas 4 celulas en diferentes lugares de la ciudad. Hay por lo menos dos grupos mas con posibilidades de empezar. La obra se extiende...

Por favor orad conmigo por Ricardo y Ruth Borges (y sus dos perciosas hijas, Ana Julia y Carolina) que Dios trajo de Brasil para colaborar con la obra aqui. Orad asimismo por el resto del equipo que componen para que Dios les de todo lo que necesitan para seguir apoyando y desarrollando el trabajo.

Orad por los estudiantes que vinieron al encuentro para que esta semana sean obedientes y disfruten del privilegio que Dios nos da de alcanzar a otros. Orad tambien por los demas estudiantes que no pudieron venir por diversas causas.

National gathering - URUGUAY

I came back yesterday from the National gathering of students in Uruguay. We gathered in "El Retono" a conference center near the airport in Montevideo. A beautiful center owned by Youth for Christ. God gave us a beautiful weather, almost like spring (well, not at night!) and it was great.

No doubt this has been a historical event in the history of the National Movement in Uruguay. This is the first gathering as such after a long period of silence of over 10 years. It looks like we are before a new and beautiful stage of the life of the movement. God has not forgotten and God honours the work o these first pioneers. We were delighted to have with us some of these first pioneers that are still cooperating with the work: Freddy and Laura.

There were 15 students and a few graduates. We also had a student and a staffworker from Argentina (they were also at the event last week in Escobar). These are the new students that God is raising for the witness of the Uruguayan University and for his glory and honour. Most of them were attending a CBUU event for the first time. Most of them are also freshers even some are still finishing High School.

I was impressed by their spiritual maturity but also humilty; their passion and their commitment to God and the ministry. Like someone said during our gathering: These students are FRESH. I think this is a very accurate way to describe them.

It was a real privilege to share with them and see them absorbing like sponges.

At the end of the gathering all committed themselves to be disciples that reach our to the University of Uruguay and wherever God will lead them. I so much thank God and for his amazing work in the lives of these students.

Please pray with me for Ricardo and Ruth (and their previous daughters Ana Julia and Carolina) that God has brought from Brasil and the rest of the team.

This week 4 small groups are gathering in different spots across the city. Two more small groups may start. The work extends itself....

Pray for the students that came to the gathering this week that they may be obedient to God and also for all the other students that could not make it for several reasons.
